Certificate II in Protected Horticulture

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for individuals who work in support roles in the protected horticulture industry undertaking routine tasks in the areas of picking, packing, crop and nursery work. Individuals with this qualification work under supervision where the work is predictable and structured with limited judgement requirements. Work must comply with work health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in: 12 units of competency: 6 core units plus 6 elective units. Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. Any combination of electives that meets the packaging rules can be selected for the award of the Certificate II in Protected Horticulture. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation area as follows: At least 2 electives must be selected from Group A for the award of the Certificate II in Protected Horticulture (Picking) At least 2 electives must be selected from Group B for the award of the Certificate II in Protected Horticulture (Packing) At least 2 electives must be selected from Group C for the award of the Certificate II in Protected Horticulture (Crop work) At least 2 electives must be selected from Group D for the award of the Certificate II in Protected Horticulture (Nursery) Plus 4 units from the remaining units listed in groups A, B, C, D or E, or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course. Where a specialisation area is not sought, the electives are to be chosen as follows: 2 units must be selected from groups A, B, C, D or E the remaining 4 electives may be selected from groups A, B, C, D or E or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
