This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prevent, recognise and provide first response to fire in material or compost piles. The unit applies to individuals who work as a yard or general hand under general supervision and who exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work. They undertake defined activities and work in a structured context. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
