This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to assist with planned burning for agricultural or natural resource management purposes. The unit applies to individuals who participate in lighting and undertaking planned burns under direct supervision. They exercise limited autonomy within established and well known parameters, providing solutions to a limited range of predictable problems. Legislation and regulations apply to planned burns in many jurisdictions. Users are advised to check with the relevant regulatory authority.
