This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to assess physical and moisture properties of soil, monitor soil chemical properties, assess soil health and plant growth under irrigation, and implement strategies to optimise irrigation on the soil plant growing environment. The unit applies to individuals who monitor soils under irrigation under broad direction and take responsibility for their own work. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
