This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to set out a site for construction works, planning, preparing, locating and marking out construction works, establishing survey benchmarks and verifying site levels in accordance with site plans and specifications. This may be done in advance of proposed works or in conjunction with construction works already being carried out. The unit applies to individuals who set out site for construction works under broad direction, and take responsibility for their own work and for the quality of the work of others. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
