This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to grind combs and cutters for machine shearing so that they are effective for the type of wool and shearing conditions. This unit applies to individuals who work under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work. All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures and standards, health and safety regulations, and biosecurity requirements and practices. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.

0748.E1.O2Clean combs and cutters prior to grinding in line with work health and safety (WHS) and biosecurity standards

E2Prepare grinder and pendulum for use

0748.E2.O5Check, clean and adjust the bottom bar of the pendulum to ensure it is true
0748.E2.O6Confirm that the pressure bar and pins are set at the recommended distance according to manufacturer specifications
