This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to remove, inspect and refit the wheel and tyre assemblies of heavy vehicles. It involves identifying and confirming job requirements; preparing for the task; removing, inspecting and refitting the wheel and tyre assembly; and completing workplace processes and documentation. The unit applies to those who work in the automotive service and repair industry. The wheel and tyre assemblies include those of forklifts, heavy commercial vehicles or mobile plant machinery. This unit does not apply to off-the-road tyres of mobile plant machinery, motorcycle or light vehicle wheel assemblies.
