This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to remove, inspect, repair and refit light vehicle tyres from wheel assemblies. Where the tyre configuration includes an inner tube, the unit also covers the removal, inspection, repair and refit of the tube. It involves identifying and confirming work requirements, preparing for the task, removing, inspecting, repairing and refitting the tyres and completing workplace processes and documentation. This unit applies to those who work within the automotive service and repair industry. The tyres include those of light vehicles or outdoor power equipment. This unit does not apply to agricultural machinery, heavy commercial vehicles, marine vessels or mobile plant machinery.
