This unit describes the performance outcomes required to apply masking materials in preparation for vehicle and component refinishing. It involves preparing for the task, selecting and using tools and equipment, selecting masking materials appropriate to the vehicle or component, masking off surrounding panels and components before refinishing activities, and completing workplace processes and documentation. It applies to those working in the automotive paint refinishing repair industry. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
