This unit describes the performance outcomes required to carry out final polishing activities on vehicle painted surfaces. It involves preparing for the task, selecting and using specialist tools and equipment, identifying paint defects, selecting buffing and polishing materials, de-nibbing, buffing and polishing surfaces, and completing workplace processes and documentation. It applies to those working in the automotive paint refinishing repair industry. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
