This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to match vehicle or component multi-layer and clear over base paint colours using original equipment manufacturer (OEM) paint codes. This unit involves preparing for the task, selecting and using specialist tools and equipment, identifying paint codes, preparing colour matching test cards, mixing and spraying paint and conducting a visual colour match, and completing workplace processes and documentation. The unit applies to those working in the automotive refinishing industry. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
