This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and weld components using the gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process. It involves preparing for the task, selecting and using GMAW equipment, inspecting and testing weld quality, and completing workplace processes and documentation. It applies to those working in the automotive service and repair industry. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
