This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to conduct and report on advanced and final inspections that occur after constructing the structural elements of commercial buildings included in Classes 2 to 9, as defined in the National Construction Code (NCC), up to three storeys and not exceeding 2,000 square metres in floor area. The unit includes planning and conducting inspections, reporting on issues of non-compliance, preparing certificates of compliance and issuing occupancy permissions according to legislative and regulatory requirements. This unit is suitable for building surveyors who draw on their broad theoretical knowledge and technical skills to conduct mandated inspections of buildings included in Class 2 to 9 at the advanced and final stages of construction.
