This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to set out and assemble partitions for the purpose of dividing areas into useable spaces, meeting all relevant requirements of national construction codes, Australian Standards, work health and safety (WHS), and Commonwealth and state or territory legislation. It includes prefabricated and demountable partitions constructed of timber or metal. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

E1Plan and prepare.
0126.E1.O1Read and interpret work instructions and plan sequence of work.
0126.E1.O2Plan all work to comply with laws and regulations, national construction codes, Australian Standards, work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements, manufacturers’ specifications, workplace requirements, drawings and specifications.
0126.E1.O3Select tools and equipment, check for serviceability and report any faults.
0126.E1.O4Select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) for each part of the task.
0126.E1.O5Inspect work site, locate services, assess hazards and apply risk controls, including required signage and barricades.

0126.E3.O2Install fixing and fastenings to secure each junction of members tight together, flush on partition face and within ±2mm of set out.

0126.E4.O1Clean up, meeting all legislative and workplace requirements for safety, waste disposal and materials handling.
