This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to select and use small plant and equipment safely and effectively to complete individual demolition tasks, such as breaking concrete, stripping out interior of buildings, pulling down walls and separating waste for recycling. The unit applies to workers performing on-site specialist demolition work using powered small plant and equipment on public, residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
