This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to identify hazards common to demolition work, and undiscovered hazards that may arise during the course of work on demolition sites. It includes assessing risks and applying risk management strategies according to compliance and workplace requirements. It supports the induction procedure for specialist demolition workers before beginning work on site. This unit does not replace requirements for completion of construction work health and safety (WHS) units. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model code of practice for construction work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCWHS1001   Prepare to work safely in the construction industry  meets this requirement.
