This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to measure, cut and fix paper-faced cornices. A person working at this level would be expected to take responsibility for organising and completing tasks assigned to them without close supervision. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

0243.E1.O2Plan all work to comply with laws and regulations, Australian Standards, work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements, manufacturers’ specifications, and workplace requirements.

0243.E3.O3Fit cornice using methods of temporary or permanent fixing to hold the cornice in place at the wall and ceiling junction.
0243.E3.O4Apply adhesive to mitres.

0243.E4.O2Fill and sand/polish mitres and joints.
