This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to remove and replace doors and door and window furniture for the purpose of painting. The unit includes planning and preparation for the work, removal and replacement of doors and door and window furniture, and completion of clean-up activities. The unit is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks under the direction of more experienced workers. Completion of the general construction industry training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

0257.E1.O2Plan all work to meet relevant requirements of work health and safety (WHS), Commonwealth and state or territory legislation, environmental plans and obligations, manufacturers’ specifications and workplace requirements.

0257.E3.O3Measure and source type and style of glass for replacement in keeping with the finish and purpose of door or window.
0257.E3.O4Clean, repair and prime door or window aperture before installation of replacement glass.
0257.E3.O5Use safe handling techniques for glass to install replacement glass to specification and required finish.
E4Replace doors and door and window furniture.
0257.E4.O1Handle, place, hang and fix doors carefully into original position.
