This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to repair and renovate roof tiles on different roof structures. It includes preparation, and replacement and fixing of tiles to the roof. A person working at this level would be expected to take responsibility for organising and completing tasks assigned to them without close supervision . Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

E1Plan and prepare to repair and renovate roofs.
0285.E1.O1Read and interpret work instructions and plan sequence of work.
0285.E1.O2Plan all work to comply with laws and regulations, the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements, manufacturers’ specifications and workplace requirements.
0285.E1.O3Select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) for each stage of the task.
0285.E1.O4Inspect work site, assess hazards and apply risk controls, including required signage and barricades.

0285.E3.O3Lay tiles to existing design, gauge, alignment and bond specifications.

E4Replace pointing material.
