This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively use stonemasonry tools, plant and equipment when assisting with stonemasonry work. It includes the introduction to and the operational and functional features of stonemasonry hand and power assisted tools, plant and equipment. The unit is suitable for people with basic skills and knowledge who undertake routine stonemasonry work under the direction of more experienced workers on a new or existing structure on a commercial or domestic site. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work.
