This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to install floor tiles to different substrates. It includes the preparation, cutting, installing and grouting of tiles for floors, including steps and and/or or stairs and thresholds. A person working at this level would be expected to take responsibility for organising and completing tasks assigned to them without close supervision. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement. Licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit in some states and territories and users are advised to check with the relevant regulatory authority.

E3Cut floor tiles.

0380.E3.O2Cut holes for penetrations to shape, size and specified tolerance.
E4Prepare substrate and install floor tiles.
0380.E4.O1Prepare and apply screed to specified consistency and surface finish.
0380.E4.O2Prepare substrate surface, free from contaminants and residues to receive adhesive.
0380.E4.O3Match adhesive with tile and substrate material and mix according to manufacturers’ instructions.
