Lesson 4.1 — Installing the Single-Phase Network
Now the competencies combine: mark out, fix conduit and trunking, draw in cables, mount boxes, and terminate. Terminations make or break an installation — strip to the right length, no copper showing, conductor fully under the clamp, screw torqued firm, then tug-test every one. Loose terminations are the number-one cause of electrical fires: they heat, oxidise, heat more, and one night they glow.
- Mark heights and runs with level and chalk line
- Fix conduit/trunking every 0.5–0.8 m
- Draw cables — no joints inside conduit
- Terminate: strip, insert fully, torque, tug-test
- Label every circuit at the board
