Lesson 1.3 — What Electricity Does to You
Respect is built on understanding. Current, not voltage, is what kills — and it takes astonishingly little. One milliamp tingles. Ten milliamps locks your grip so you physically cannot let go. Fifty milliamps across the chest can stop your heart. A 400 V pack pushing through wet skin can drive hundreds of milliamps — instantly, silently and without a second chance. Add arc-flash (a 20 000 °C plasma ball if a tool shorts the bus), chemical burns from electrolyte, and thermal runaway — a damaged lithium cell heating its neighbours in an unstoppable chain reaction that no water extinguisher fully stops. Every rule in this course exists because of this lesson.
THE ONE-HAND RULE: whenever practicable near HV, keep one hand in your pocket. Current that enters and exits the same hand hurts; current that crosses your chest from hand to hand stops your heart.
