Lesson 3.2 — Mounting & Array Installation

Panels in Cambodia face south (or flat-tilted 10–15° for self-cleaning rain runoff), clear of shade from trees, antennas and water tanks between 9:00 and 15:00. Rails bolt to roof structure — never to sheet metal alone — with waterproofed penetrations. Leave ventilation gap beneath panels: cooler panels give more volts. Torque mounting clamps to spec, bond frames to earth, and route cables with drip loops so water never follows a cable into a box.

  1. Survey shade 9:00–15:00
  2. Fix rails to structure, waterproof penetrations
  3. Clamp panels, torque to spec, earth-bond frames
  4. Wire strings with drip loops; label everything
  5. Install DC breaker between array and controller
