This unit describes the performance outcomes required to repair the structural damage of vehicle body components using straightening and replacement techniques. It involves preparing for the task, selecting and using specialist tools and equipment, fitting, aligning and welding structural sections, finishing repairs to pre-paint condition, undertaking a final inspection of body repair work, and completing workplace processes and documentation. It applies to those working in the automotive body repair industry. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
