This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to access, interpret and apply relevant building codes and standards applicable to the construction processes of large, high-rise and complex buildings. It includes ensuring building design and specifications comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) and related standards for large residential or commercial building projects. This unit of competency applies to builders, project managers and related construction industry professionals who make a range of critical decisions in relatively complex situations and take responsibility for their actions. Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work.
