This qualification reflects the role of construction waterproofing design and survey specialists who apply knowledge of construction methods, compliance requirements and materials to implement waterproofing services for professional and statutory requirements. The scope of work undertaken varies across jurisdictions and can include: conducting waterproofing inspections: at point of construction on existing building to identify issues and remediation requirements designing waterproofing for new construction designing remedial waterproofing solutions for existing buildings. Waterproofing specialists require an understanding of relevant compliance requirements as well as of traditional, new and emerging construction methods and materials. They make a significant contribution to the development and construction of the built environment, often working in collaboration with other specialist consultants to assess and verify that proposed and actual building works are compliant and to ensure the safety of building occupants in support of principal designer and principal certifier. Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in: 16 units of competency: 11 core units 5 elective units. The elective units must ensure the integrity of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification alignment, contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome and are to be chosen as follows: one (1) or more units must be chosen from elective Group A – Building Codes the remaining elective units may be chosen from elective Group B - General Electives.
