This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a range of well-developed guiding skills combined with a substantial depth of subject matter knowledge to deliver tours. They work with some independence and under limited supervision using discretion and judgement to resolve problems. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a guide in many tourism industry sectors. Guides at this level usually work in particular areas or sites, including attractions, cultural and heritage sites, tourist precincts, marine and national parks, wineries, or on-board day or extended cruise vessels. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
